Fish of the Day Well it is your Choice!

FISH OF THE DAY DOLPHIN<DURADO<DORADO<MAHI MAHI>DOLPHIN FISH YOU PICK IT!
The Dolphin! - Not the Flipper mammal that everyone knows and loves from aquariums seas world and Bahama’s but mahi-mahi or common dolphin fish. They like to swim with the Dolphin and that is how they earned the name Dolphin FISH. A surface-dwelling ray-finned fish found off-shore in, tropical and subtropical waters worldwide. Other names this fish can be known as include Dorado; Mahi Mahi is Hawaiian in origin. The Mahi Mahi has a really short life and grows fast, 5 years, although they seldom exceed four. Fish usually get up to around 15-30 pounds and rarely can you catch one close to 40lbs.
They are beautiful fish with dazzling colors, blues, green, and gold, with the bright blues and greens on the sides and back. Mature males have a protruding forehead that makes them look rather mad and mean. The females have a rounded head and are also usually smaller than males. The Dorado will change colors in the water as the light hits them and they are a great fun fish to catch and very good table fare.

Mahi-Mahi grows really fast in the short life and spawns in warm ocean currents throughout much of the year, and their young are commonly found in seaweed. Mahi-mahi feed all the time on flying fish, crabs, squid, mackerel, and just about any bait fish they can find. These fish like warm water above 80% and are mostly found on the surface. Look for floating rafts, boards, debris or Sargassum weeds.
Dolphin Fish  swim very fast over 40 miles per hour and that makes them a fun target for anglers and athletic to boot, if you find one there are many as these fish like to hang out in schools and smaller packs.

Mahi-mahi is popular in many restaurants because they are somewhat abundant from warm waters worldwide.  Anglers like r floating debris and frigate birds near the edge of the reefs in 90-150 feet of water.
Fishing tackle in the 20-40 lb. range works well and if you u first fish you catch and make it about 6-10 inches long and 4 inches wide, Rig with no hook and use it as a teaser to create a frenzy and then it will usually not matter what bait you throw out the Dorado will eat it, Ballyhoo, live sardines tossed into the water can also excite the mahi-mahis into a feeding frenzy. You can locate them trolling duster baits flying fish daisy chains and other 4-inch trolling lures when you catch one look for where they are and can sometimes have a fish rodeo.

Williamson, Braid, Bomber, Mann’s, Yozuri, and Boone all make affordable baits for Mahi Mahi and we hope you will try a Catcher Rod ,either the bait pitch rod or our 7 foot sailfish rod will the trick.
